Hey everyone!

I have a vinyl liner pool with a SWG. I'm trying to understand how important calcium hardness is for this pool. Here are my most recent numbers

FC - 4.5
CC - 0
ph - 7.6
TA - 80
CYA - 70
CH - 110
Salt - 3200
CSI - -.67
Temp - 84

I know (or gather anyway) that for the liner itself, CH does not matter. My pool guy/installer said to not worry about CH. But does it matter for my pool equipment or the concrete around the pool? I just read something about low CH affecting the life of the SWG, requiring more frequent cleanings which actually shorten the life of the cell. The manual for my SWG (Aquarite 900) says the CH should be 150-250, so I am a bit low according to that.

So do I do anything or leave as is? All my other levels are fine and I have no problems maintaining a clean and sparkling pool!

No heater of any kind. Best money I (never) spent. I got a solar cover instead since there is like 0 shade around our pool and do not regret it at all.

Anyway, thanks for the reply. What about effects on the surrounding concrete? Is there anything to be concerned with there? I would imagine the actual salt in the water has more of an effect on that.

Nope, no effects to surrounding concrete. Swim and splash all you want. Just remember that the salt cell is for Free Chlorine maintenance, not for getting you to the FC reading you want. For that you use liquid chlorine. Once in the range of FC that is appropriate for your CYA reading then the salt cell can maintain it.

I found that out through experience :)
