Calcium Chloride?

I am refilling my pool, it is a salt water pool but have not added any salt yet. My question is - my calcium hardness is 125 so it needs to come up to 200 now the pool calculator says to add calcium chloride, but if I do that then add my salt will that spike my calcium hardiness readings?

Salt and calcium hardness are two different things. Salinity does not show up as calcium hardness.

You do need to get to 200-250 ppm CH for our plaster surface.

Calcium chloride is a type of salt and will show up on a salt test. A 50 lb bag of calcium chloride is about equal to a 40 lb bag of sodium chloride.

Measure the salinity before adding any.

Then, calculate the amount of salt to add.

Subtract the amount of calcium chloride to be added from the amount of sodium chloride to be added and then add about 75% of the calculated amount of sodium chloride.

Brush well and circulate for 24 hours. Test again and add the remaining amount of salt.

New plaster? Needs to be 30 days old before salt goes in (in my recent education...your situation may be different)
