So I started my first SLAM today. I also have have two cases of cal Hypo “shock” that my PB left me. My calcium is currently only about 200 ppm. Any issue with me alternating the cal hypo shock with liquid chlorine? I really just want to get rid of the cal hypo safely. I’m not a big fan of it being stored in my garage. I figured I could use some of it and still not raise my calcium levels too high?

Also do you all SLAM with the cover on or cover off? I have to be gone tomorrow for a work trip and will be gone from 8-8. I’m thinking about raising my FC in the morning back to slam levels and then keeping the cover on. Or is that bad for the cover should I keep the cover off and then just SLAM again tomorrow evening?

SLAMing is marginally, and I mean marginally, bad for the cover. It also cleans the cover, so there's an upside.

It's generally best to keep up the SLAM if at all possible. So if it was me, I would raise the FC in the morning and leave the cover on.

The cal hypo is fine. Select a suitable maximum CH for your liking. Enter the volume of cal hypo you want to use up in "effects of adding" in poolmath, and then you'll know how much your cal hypo will raise the CH

Some people that try SLAM with calhypo find the water gets cloudy because of it. I dont know thats theres any explanation but beware of that. Id save it for later after the SLAM.
