Hello all, right now I am using a poolvergeunen 4x suction side pool cleaner but it seems to be malfunctioning and I can't fix it without a rebuild probably (tried to replace parts here and there without improvement in speed, can't climb walls like before etc). I am thinking of getting a robot cleaner but boy are they expensive.

I saw a used Polaris 9550 which they guy says he bought in 2/2017 but used until 4/2017 and then hired a pool guy after that. Still has the stand, remote, etc, and supposedly nothing is wrong with it.

I see it new for lowest is about 950 or so.
He won't take less than 600.

My pool is chlorine, about 25000 gallons, plaster

Would anyone buy a used pool robot or specifically, the polaris 9550 used? I worry about the fact it could malfunction at any time and would not be under warranty. Thanks for your help.

C,

Would anyone be stupid enough to buy a used robot?? Well, yes I was....

I bought several old Dolphin Diagnostics for less than $100 each, although not at the same time. I used one that I knew was bad for parts and the others needed new bearings and tracks.. They were 10 years old when I bought them 5 years ago. They are still going strong today..

I knew going in that I might be buying a lemon, so I only invested what I could afford to lose... Kind of like going to Lost Wages..:p

That said, paying $600 for something that you can buy new for $950 is not, in my mind, a good deal.

Sorry, but I know nothing about the Polaris... good or bad..

Thanks for posting,

Jim R.

Not a lot of great reviews on here with respect to the Polaris robot. Polaris's true skills are in pressure side cleaners, they’re not know for their robots. I agree with others - $600 for something you can get for $950 is not a deal. Go to Doheny or Marina’s Pool and Spa as they can sell you a BRAND NEW Dolphin (s200 model) for close to that price. Dolphin is in the industry leader in robots, everything else is 2nd rate.

I have the Polaris 9550 iQ Sport and love it. Cleans really well! Pool is totally spotless. Truly set and forget. I think you should get that Polaris but wave $500 under his nose. Mine has a 3 year guarantee on it I am not sure that is transferable. I doubt he will get what he is asking.
