Buried agp, liner leak. Soil movement under pool. To fix or not to fix is the question

Obviously had a liner tear. 2 tears both on wall. 1 about 3.5" high and other about 2'. top one fixed easy. bottom one spans the wall ribs which makes patch tricky. right now I'm not happy with the lower patch. But it's no longer losing water. Going to fill to my closing level and close it up if it holds . Issue is the deep end allows the ground to slide down the outside of the wall and under the liner. I know a new liner is in order. But how to I prevent the walls from collapsing since it's buried? Obviously need to drain, redo coping, replace liner, and backfill side wall. If it wont hold water and I can get her patched how to I preventer the walls collapsing. In the frozen north and frost heave scares me too. Torn about keeping. We no longer use it much. But love it when all the kids and grandkids pop by for a swim. other hand defiantly some cost savings (new 1 hp pump last year). Liner replacement with labor will probably cost a little more than the fill dirt would to fill it in. Open to ideas on saving the pool. or thoughts on filling it in.

Sounds like you're kind of stuck until next season. Even if you did something creative with the ground around the deep end to encourage ground water to flow away from the pool, there's still the issue of the two tears themselves. Will they hold? Hopefully so. Are you leaving it uncovered? Perhaps winter rains/snow may help to keep the walls and liner in place for a while.

As Tex said, if the leak is stopped you’re just waiting. There’s not alot you can do but keep the pool full to prevent collapse.
When you do go to replace the liner you want to be sure it has been very dry to prevent collapse.
Was the cove shifted due to the water from the leak or ground water?
If the ground outside of the pool is shifting naturally you would need to dig that out & put a retaining wall & drainage to prevent it from happening again.
Is the pool buried all the way around?

No I won't be keeping it uncovered if it holds water. I'll do my normal closing.

cove shift due to leak. There was a small section in the cover before from the last owners liner replacement. Pool is buried 360 degrees.

That’s good news about the cove.
Hopefully then you will just need to fix that & replace the liner.
Do you know the condition of the walls when the liner was replaced last?
If I were you I’d attempt to purchase a liner from somewhere that I could return it incase you come upon alot of rust after removing the liner & just decide to go sans pool.
