Your concrete will be strong either way. It will be notably stronger if it cures optimally. Most pools do not get optimal curing conditions. Very few pools "break" because they aren't strong enough. Worrying about why or why not a PB does things that are in the past is fruitless, especially if you can correct them yourself today (as you are with watering), assuming they aren't recurring items on the agenda. You won't change a PB's mind on many things so in a nod to reality, don't beat yourself up (or them) about it. Stand your ground when you need to and realize when you need to and when you don't (that's an area where TFP provides amazing insight). You still need to maintain a good working relationship with them and that's really the most important thing going forward.
