Building a covered porch - ceiling ideas

Building a covered porch off of the back of my house so guest have a place to chill in the shade. About 70' in total length.

Anyone have a recommendation on ceiling material? I will have a natural gas fire pit under it, but 10' away from the ceiling and I'm guessing smoke stain shouldn't be a concern. I'm thinking...

1) Vinyl. Will need to hang OSB to keep it tight and preventing it from bowing.
2) Wood tongue and grove painted white
3) Sheetrock painted white

Would love to hear what any of you have and your experience. Thanks

You likely can't have a propane fire pit under a ceiling.

I left mine open and had it sprayed white. As I've added speakers, electric, gas over the years, having it open and accessible was a huge plus. Also, I would recommend keeping in mind any possible nesting places, i.e. flat space in corners, the birds are ruthless Although, covering the ceiling may resolve a lot of those issues.

I also had a wood fired pizza oven right along the front and the smoke did stain a bit, although the fire is about 4' off the ground. I moved it out from under the patio.

my ceiling is sapele. its an african mahogany. the only only reason I was even able to afford it was because My buddy's shop brought it in rough and I finished it at his shop. you can have it ribbon cut (which looks awesome!) or regular. Ribbon cut was even more expensive so I only did my cabinet doors ribbon since you see those at eye level. My ceiling is regular. Best think about this wood you only only only seal it. you don't stain it cause well it's beautiful and you would cover up that beautiful color.

It was used cause it handles changes in temps really well for my 4 seasons out here.

I'm very very glad I spent the money on my huge hood vent for my egg and gas grill. and it's so strong it doubles as a fire started for the egg until I close the lid cause the pull from the fans is so strong it stokes the egg when I first light it. lol

Out of curiosity, how loud is the exhaust? That was the main reason I didn't put one in.

3 speed. Low u can’t hear which actually clears enough smoke if need be. 2 isn’t bad at all. 3 is airplane starting up. Lol. It’s loud but I never use the top speed. It’s a dual blower. I’m very glad I put it in. We have it exhausted out the roof of the building. 8 inch pipe like my indoor kitchen one.
