Greetings pool forum. I am a future pool owner. Currently building a house that will have a small, 10x10 spool. This will be my first pool. The shotcrete and pump equipment were installed a few months ago. When walking around the house today I noticed the protective casing on the electrical whip to the blower was broken (See attached pic). I believe this occurred during installation but I cant be sure. Regardless, it seems sloppy the way it was left zip tied to the pvc pipe With the blower sitting on the ground.

Typical weather in Atlanta area during the winter is cold and rainy. Especially this past week where it’s been a deluge. Being a DIY guy, I know the whip is compromised by water and needs to be replaced. However, what I’m also concerned about is water that has made its way into the blower and compromised that unit as well. When I look into the vents under the blower I can see water inside. Also, we had a few days where temps did not get above freezing.

What are your thoughts regarding the integrity of the blower unit? I’d like to have an educated conversation with my pool contractor this week. Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I don’t want to touch the equipment for fear of being blamed for doing something that negatively affects the operation. I did put the pool contractor, as well as my GC, on notice that I expect the whip to be changed and that I suspect the blower has been affected as well. Even if it starts, which won’t be for another 3 months, I suspect its lifespan has been diminished.
