Broken Pool Light Cover

so we were enjoying swimming in our crystal clear TFP pool, when my daughter notices that there's a foreign object at the bottom of the pool

turns out, the pool light cover has broken somehow (see pic) and it was a piece of glass in the pool

the light never worked since we moved in, i'm not even sure where the switch to turn it on is!



now, from what i have read, i should:

1) turn off the power at the breaker (i think i might just turn off every switch in my fuse box)
2) undo that phillips head screw
3) remove the light section which should have enough cable to reach outside the pool

my plan was to just buy the exact same light and swap the covers, i don't really care if the light actually works or not, i've never used the pool at night

i just don't want more pieces of glass to dislodge and fall into the pool

anything i've missed, or other recommendations?

Sounds like a solid plan to me. I would at least think about replacing the whole light just because but that is up to you. I wonder if they make plastic covers for that light?

I think that that's just a plastic colored lens that snaps on.

Are you sure that it's glass?

Actually, I think it is plastic.

If so, I could just remove the plastic outer cover, provided the glass underneath is intact?

Yes, I think that the plastic lens just snaps on. It's just for color. Try pulling it off.
