Hello we are filling our new pool and i want to be sure we get it right. Im not seeing anything for when first starting. Should we test the water and add chemicals before getting in and make sure the levels are where they need to be?

It helps to have a few key pieces of info:
Pool make-up: Vinyl, fiberglass, plaster, etc.
Filtration and Pump Info
Qty Gallons
Any accessories
Also helps to know your fill source!
Are you equipped with a good test kit? If not, throw those terrible strips in the trash, and get yourself a good test kit!
Plenty of articles to review in the mean time! Take a trip through pool school and make yourself familiar with chemicals. Download the pool math app (and if you’re up for it - it’s worth subscribing so others can see your chems).
I filled to about 75% before considering chemicals… and then ran into a series of my own issues (rust and other things)… I had to SLAM and deal with rust in the same breath.
Let’s get some of your basics going and the brains around here will get you where you need to be in no time!

Thank you! Just updated my profile. It’s an above ground pool. Funsicle brand that came with a pump skimmer combo. From what I’ve read we should probably buy a separate pump but will look to do that later. It’s vinyl 6700gallons and we filled with water from our hose. The pool was new and just installed and I don’t see any rust or issues with it.Hi there! Welcome!
