Manorville, NY
So I am in NY getting ready to sell my house in a month just opened my pool yesterday to a green monster. Lots more leaves then usual got underneath the loop loc cover this year. Usually not a big concern as if just clean and slam. Working on cleaning still but it’s green and I’m on day 2 I won’t have the time to fully clean until this weekend.

Mira still too cold for myswg to do anything. I can’t get bleach because of Covid-19 I can’t even get the liquid poop bleach at higher percentage that’s sold out everywhere. I did find the pucks which I hate so I threw 2 of them in each skimmer.

goven I can’t really slam the way I usually would does anyone have any advice?

never thought I’d have pool issues again but nothavung a bleach supply has certainly made life more difficult.

pH test is thrown off by high FC but the CH and CYA won’t be.

Surprised you don’t have test results from before you added chems. :) We typically recommend adding chems based on needs of the pool, not just dumping in shock.

Check to see how close a Ocean State Job Lot is to you. 12.5% Cl at $2.99 a gallon. Maybe worth a bit of a ride to pick up a few cases. Check availability here

You can not get dependable, accurate advice until you post some valid test results.

Just like driving directions.......we can't tell you how to get there until you tell us where you are.

Yes sorry had been busy just got a chance to test. Thank you for the help.

CYA of 60 is plenty high. No pucks / trichlor. But the CH is low. You could use CalHypo to chlorinate for a bit. Just figure out your CH rise when you do.

Low values don't matter with a vinyl liner. You don't want it getting too high or it can scale on the equipment/liner. 100 is pretty low though. You would want to avoid it getting over 500 or so.

Cal Hypo is Calcium Hypochlorite. Sold as powdered shock - you just have to check if powdered shock is Cal Hypo or Trichlor / Dichlor. Avoid the latter but you could use Cal Hypo to chlorinate for now, if you can't find liquid chlorine. Just need to make sure your CH doesn't get too high.

Home depot in Riverhead had half a pallet the other day. In the garden section there is a pool area. HDX brand. If not try Lowes across the street.

sorry I can’t help the OP but why is the pool green if the FCl is so high?

doesn’t the FCl get consumed killing green stuff.
Yes, but we can’t infer anything from one measurement regarding how much FC is being used up. We’d need to know how much it drops over time.

Just wanted to thank everyone especially for the alternative suggestion I was able to remove the pucks before CYA really raised and found chlorinating liquid the other day. All the debris from the winter is out of the pool and I’m in the middle of SLAM. Everything is right with my pool world. Water is no longer green and can see the deep end :)

Where did you find it ? I’m probably opening soon and my SWG won’t work for a while yet. I may need some liquid too if HD is out.
