Black algae from swimsuits used in lake?

Someone who cleans pools told me never wear a swimsuit in the pool that has been in the lake because it could bring in black algae. If the swimsuit is washed after lake use and if the pool has the correct amount of chlorine, is this a valid concern?

I read some old posts here that appear to discount the concern but just throwing it back out there.

Thanks,,.

That statement deserves my favorite pool misinformation word. "Balderdash!"

Swim wherever in whatever you want. Black algae gets in your pool because of improper chlorine levels over an extended period. Keep you chlorine constantly where it needs to be and you will never see black (or any other kind) algae
