We are in the phases of designing and getting a list of equipment for a new Biodesign. I will post the design when we get depths, but I wanted to get opinions on the suggested equipment. Here is their standard equipment package? Anything that we need to ask to upgrade? And I will note that we wish it could be a salt water pool but the design and patio have a lot of stone that would be susceptible to degradation from the salt, so we are going to stick with chlorine.

Pentair Intelliflo VSf Pump
TR 100 Sand Filter with Glass Media or DE Filter
Smart Center System from Pentair, Easytouch or equivalent
Robotic Cleaner
Inline Chlorine Sanitizer/Mineral Water Nature 2
1 HP Blower
MicroBright LED Color Changing lights
Aiper Surface Skimmer

Welcome to TFP!

Please explain in detail what a Biodesign pool is. Any links to websites may help as well.
What is the PB touting as the advantages over a traditional plaster pool?
Most here have vinyl lined, fiberglass, or plaster pools.

As to your equipment - get manufacturers and model numbers for everything.
Personally, I would get a large cartridge filter over a sand or DE filter. I've had experience with all 3 and cartridge is best for me.
The latest Pentair automation is the Intellicenter - the EasyTouch is old and being discontinued.
Which "Robotic Cleaner"?
Ditch the inline chlorinator and Nature 2 - instead, get a Pentair SWG rated for at least 2X your pool volume.
Post a full list of all equipment.

Hey 3P and Welcome back !!!

Please explain in detail what a Biodesign pool is
Its like half beach and half man made pond. There was a great YouTube where they installed one but my GoogleFu isn't on its game today.

Here's OPs original thread

Here is their website: About Biodesign Pools
Here are a couple example builds posted on reddit:
Why biodesign? Because my wife really likes their designs and the look of them. It has some other benefits, but its mostly about the fit and look. I wish we could go salt, but as I mentioned, there will be stone incredible close to the pool and we are worried that since the stone is porous, it will degrade.

I will ask to get a specific list, but checking in here to see if there are any specific models that are the general consensus for the majority of pools.

since the stone is porous, it will degrade.
Porous stone has issues with wet environments. It will break down either way.

Every gallon of bleach you add will also add salt, its 'sodium hyperchlorite'. With long hot seasons, you'll approach 'salt pool' levels, which are only 10% of seawater. It's still pool water and not 'salt water'.

A salt water pool has only minimal amounts of salt in … around 3200ppm. That’s less than 1/10th ocean salinity and water with that much salt in it isn’t even considered “brackish”. All forms of chlorine, no matter what they are, add sanitizing chlorine that eventually reduces to chloride ion. That’s how the sanitation (oxidation) process works - chlorine is a sanitizer/oxidizer. You also have to add muriatic acid (hydrogen chloride) to control pH … hydrogen CHLORIDE. Salt increases.

I wouldn’t worry about stone. I have massive boulders and 3” flagstone all around my pool and it hasn’t been affected on iota by the salinity of my pool water.

Pentair Intelliflo VSf Pump
Get the IntelliFlo3.

TR 100 Sand Filter with Glass Media or DE Filter
Get the largest cartridge filter you can afford. The CCP520 is a good choice.

Smart Center System from Pentair, Easytouch or equivalent
Get IntelliCenter load center with the built in SWCG transformer.

Robotic Cleaner
Good choice, but you need specifics. Some robots are much better than others.

Inline Chlorine Sanitizer/Mineral Water Nature 2
Delete this and get a SWCG rated for at least twice the volume of your pool. IC40/60 is a good choice.

And I will note that we wish it could be a salt water pool but the design and patio have a lot of stone that would be susceptible to degradation from the salt, so we are going to stick with chlorine.
A salt pool is a chlorine pool. Every chlorinated pool has salt in it. The small amount of salt needed to operate a SWCG won't cause any damage to your pool or deck. Your pool water will have salt one way or another.

Heater? Chiller?

Texas is big. Where are you located?
