Hi everyone, my name is Francesco and I write from Italy. I discovered your fantastic forum and I decided to register because in Italy I could not find a solution to my problem even with qualified technicians. I have a 22x8m swimming pool with skimmer filtration system and Zeolite as filter material (changed last year) and I only use drinking water from the municipal network. for a couple of years now I have had big problems with iron stains forming all over my pool and which I can only remove with the use of ascorbic acid. however, as we know, this involves lowering the pH and destroying the chlorine. unfortunately after each treatment with AA as soon as I start adding chlorine again (even if I do it gradually) the stains in the pool begin to form again especially on the stairs and on the level of the waterline despite using sequestering products regularly. I'm desperate and don't know what to do anymore

Welcome to TFP.

Do you know the source of the iron in your pool water? Is it in your municipal water supply?

If so have you put filters on your water supply?

Have you tried filtering your pool water through Polyfill?

there is no abnormal amount of calcium in the water network. but the presence of iron is not high in the swimming pool either, however these spots always form and disappear only with ascorbic acid

I don’t know why you are discussing calcium.

but the presence of iron is not high in the swimming pool either,
How are you judging that? You cannot measure the iron that is deposited on the walls or being sequestered.

however these spots always form and disappear only with ascorbic acid

Then your iron levels are high enough to stain.

I measured the levels of iron present in the water that comes out of the network

I don’t speak that language 😩
Any chance you can find the msds sheets for either of those? That’s a thing in Italy too right? If you find them we can use google translate to see what the ingredients are.

You may have a really high iron level and the sequesterants can’t hold it all.
When you add chlorine to the water does it change color? (The water itself)

WHAT IS CTX-700 METAL SEQUESTER?

CTX-700 is a metal sequestrant (iron, magnesium, etc...) and anti-limescale ideal to prevent turbid water and limescale precipitation.
In addition, it prevents the formation of other stains caused by metals.

Ideal for all types of swimming pools.

MAIN FEATURES

  • Dispersing and inhibiting product for the prevention of scale and stains on the tank caused by metals.
  • It helps prevent clogging of filters and corrosion of the metal parts of the recirculation and filtration system.
  • It keeps water recirculation circuits, pumps and heat exchangers clean.
  • Eliminates calcification from filters favoring filtration.
  • Does not create foam.
  • It prevents the water from becoming cloudy and limestone from falling.
Piscimar Magnetic Ion: Agent product to prevent and eliminate scale and stains produced by metal ions. Prevents limescale deposits on the walls of the pool.

Sequestrant of iron and manganese. It is chlorine stable, so its effect is long-lasting.
Initial dosage: 1.5 L/100 m3. Maintenance: 0.5 L/100 m3.

This product can be used in

I gathered all that from the links - just no actual ingredient information.

when i add chlorine the water doesn't change color but the pool towel starts to get stained

I know friends who use well water and when they fill the pool the water is completely brown and using these sequestrants within 2/3 days the water becomes perfect and the towel doesn't get stained. I'm thinking that the problem is due to my pool cover which is very old

“You will need about a half to one pound of ascorbic acid per 10,000 gal. Go lighter on it and see if all the stains lift off before adding more.”
From here👇Step3 follow all the steps in order
Be sure to use polyquat 60 to prevent algae while fc is low.
Btw- what is your current fc & other test results?

they also told me about this product in addition to the pumice stone. according to your experience can they be useful to remove iron stains?

I would say more people are disappointed with the Culator but some people claim it helped them.
