Just installed Hayward Skimmer on Bestway 14x4 round above ground pool. Water filled since last week , set up Intex Crystal Clear sand filter SF70110-2. Now skimmer and retrenched valve leaking so dropping water level to redo.
August 10 readings with TF100 kit
CI = 1ppm
BR = 2ppm
PH = 8.2
FC = 0.5 ppm
CC = 1 ppm
TC = 1.5 ppm
CYA = 20

Should I add liquid clorine 10 pct or Shock?

Thank you all

Welcome! :wave: You need to follow the SLAM Process only if you have algae (green or cloudiness). If you don't then simply adjust your levels. Your CYA is a bit low, and so is your FC. So you can use some of that shock powder to increase both. But I would also use some of the HDX now to quickly get the FC to about 5-6 ppm. Once your CYA increases to about 30 - 40, stop using that shock stuff and stick to the HDX liquid. Be sure to lower your pH with muriatic acid down to about 7.6 - 7.8.

Do your repairs as needed. Your CC is a bit elevated which means the pool is trying to process an lot of junk. Keep an eye on the water after the repair. If it gets cloudy or you can't hold chlorine, do an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test to see if you have algae.

I put the faceplate and held it with gorilla tape to mark inside rectangular square (vinyl part to cut out) for butterfly gasket. Then I put Magic Lube all over the butterfly gasket (don't know why - seemed like a good plan at the time) then screwed the 6 screws with #2 Phillips driver for the butterfly gasket to Hayward skimmer. Then put faceplate and screwed on the remaining screws (aka like a tire). But it seemed to be leaking on the center screw of the sides. That is why I removed it and reinstalled the gasket as pictures above.

Should I add magic lube to the screws (before putting on the faceplate) and then to the screws with the faceplate?

Thanks for replies...

Read that I should use #3 Phillips screw driver to be able to crank down the screws more (maybe why I had leak). Should the screws which only go to the butterfly gasket be in enough that the gasket is bending inwards?
