Best way to get water sample?

1/2 inch pvc with a cap on one end with a hole drilled through it. Lower into the water. Put your thumb over the hole, pull it out and dump into container.

Or, like I do, just use a small container and get some water out of the pool.

The other idea, if you have one, is to use the spigot at the equipment pad.

I wondered why there was a spigot in my pad plumbing, thats a great idea but what is the spigot installed for actually?

In addition to what Marty stated - if you ever doubt your pressure gauge on the filter you can open this spigot to relieve pressure from the system. Just be cautious if you have backflow (check valves) in the system because those can trap pressure as well.
