Best PVC glue? And how to ensure good bond when you can't twist?

I'm getting ready to replace an old check valve and 3-way Jandy with new ones, and since most of the pipes in the system are fixed to other parts/lines, at some point, I'm only going to be able to coat the pipe with primer/glue and push together without with any twisting to ensure good coverage. Is that just how it goes sometimes?

Lastly, any great ideas on how to plumb this?
  • I have a new Jandy flapper check valve for spa spillover, so I want to keep it horizontal (yellow star on purple line below)
  • My existing 3-way can't be re-used due to prior attempts at reaming/re-gluing
  • The polaris line will be connected to standard return, with a few less fittings.
  • I will use my reaming tool to re-glue the top of the 3-way valve to the existing 2" elbow, so basically everything under the green line will be new.

I knocked this project out over the last weekend. All of my pool return lines at the pad were replaced, and I have a proper check valve preventing the spa from draining back into the pool. There's still a slow drain down, but that will take some more investigating.

I recommend buying a PVC reamer tool, and utilizing unions where needed to make it possible to tackle sections instead of the whole thing.
