Baking soda stains on new pool plaster

Hi! We have a new small plaster pool (less than 30 days old) and have a medium gray plaster. I noticed the PH was really low, and the pool rep said no problem, I have some baking soda to throw in. I think he threw in way too much for the size of our pool. He waited about to minute to brush it, and it it left stains all over the place The stains have been there for over a week now and haven't gone away. I keep brushing it with no success. Any ideas on how to get his off? I've never had a plaster pool before. Thank you!

Ask the rep to come back out and fix it or you’ll file a warranty claim. Are you sure it was baking soda? Baking soda increases TA, which only slightly affects pH.

Can you post water test results? Doesn’t make sense to add that for low pH.

The best way to raise pH is by aeration of the water. That will raise your pH gradually while not affecting your TA.

If TA is 50 or above, bring your pH up to 7.4 or so using 20 mule team Borax.....soda ash is not a good choice as it will raise the pH and raise the TA a lot.

If TA is below 50, then bring the TA up to 50-60 using baking soda and THEN raise your pH to around 7.4 using 20 Mule Team Borax.
