I’m asking for suggestions, pictures or advice on a DIY pool area makeover.
Decking or gazebo replaces the old pool equipment
Some sort of privacy fence above the cinder block dividing wall to neighbors
Thinking of removing brick flower beds
maybe paint the cinder block wall

What about some lattice type fencing on top of the wall and let some ivy or flowering vine grow on it?

I'd also start growing something pretty in those planters to soften the area up and make it feel cooler.

I'm going to use these to make a privacy screen between my spa and the pool equipment:

My fence (up to 7 ft) and roof give me privacy on 2 sides, the other I just added privacy screen (called "Florida glass")... I saw that you can get screens with lifelike pictures like a sunset on them but this was simple.

Check your local codes. My local codes only allow 4' front fence and 6' high side and rear fences. Other structures and shrubs can be higher so you have to be creative to stay within code.
