Backwash valve leaking....OK to install ball valve on discharge line ?

So new O rings on the push-pull slide valve..... should fix the problem. This is a 1993 Hayward DE 4800 filter.

I did not notice the leak for awhile. How about if I glue on a ball valve with a stub facing out...so I can clamp on the discharge hose ? And keep it closed.

Sound OK ? I will have a prominent tag reminding me to open the ball valve...before back washing.

Hayward's backwash valve have a different size for the top and bottom o-rings The top one is the largest one with part number SPX0410Z2. The bottom one is smaller with part number SPX0410Z1.
