Backwash hoses for 2 1/4" pipe

New to pools, learning as fast as I can. We have had a lot of rain lately and the skimmer is underwater. I'd like to drain some of the pool and from what I have read I can use the waste connection on the back of my filter to drain water directly from the drains. Problem is that it is a 2 1/4" outer diameter pipe and I can't find a backwash hose that large. Do I put a fitting on it to decrease the size? No idea what to do....

Reduce it down to 1-1/2", use a small length of pipe and 2" backwash hose fits nicely

This and a can of pipe cement will fix you up.
