Awaiting Test Kit

Hi Everybody,

I purchased HTH 6 way test strips then discovered your amazing website. Our pool has been filled since Monday (June 8th) and the filter/pump has not been running and the water has stayed clear and I have not added any chemicals until last night (Wednesday 10th) I added about a half gallon of Pool Essentials Chlorinating Liquid 10% with the pump running. My test kit should arrive in 3 days. I have used the pool twice (before adding the chlorine) My mother and daughter were going to get in today. Is it ok?

Do you leave off your solar cover over night when you have added chemicals?

You should add 30 ppm worth of CYA. Dry stabilizer/conditioner. Use a sock to put it in and hang in the water to dissolve.
Add 3 ppm FC worth of liquid chlorine every day until you get your test kit.
It is fine to swim in.
No reason to leave the solar cover off over night. In your climate, you need it to keep the water warmer.
