This will be my first in ground pool. Currently we are waiting on the city for our permit, then construction should start soon after. Looking to gain knowledge from everyone here on the forums since I'm completely new to pool chemistry. I've already ordered my TF 100 test kit. Can you recommend things I need in order to keep my pool clear and balanced? All suggestions are appreciated.

Update... We are breaking ground on the 7th!!!

Hello and welcome to TFP! Congrats on the new pool. TF-100 ... perfect! :goodjob: Normally we don't advise trying to buy too many products in advance without testing, but for certain you can expect you'll need some regular bleach from HEB or Walmart to increase free chlorine (FC) and muriatic acid to keep pH from climbing. Much also depends upon what your builder does during their opening process.

But once the pool is full, post a full set of test results and we'll be glad to help. Nice to have you with us.

Bradly,

Welcome to TFP... A Great resource for all "Cowtown" new pool builders... :drown:

The kit is the first step and you have already completed that one.

Please tell us more...

If you provide us a list of specs and/or equipment we might be able to point you in the right direct...

We just want to make sure that you are not buying into any "Magic"... like UV, Ozone, or Mineral systems to help sanitize your pool... All magic and no rabbit... :p

Thanks for posting,

Jim R.

Since this is a new build and you can set it up anyway you want, I would add a stenner pump to automatically inject chlorine while the filter is running. My pump is right next to my house, so I was going to install the pump and tank in my basement (to keep the chlorine out of the heat and sun) and plumb it into the return line. But I am trying to figure out the best way to make it work with my wiring setup. It would be much easier to incorporate it into the original design.

I'll have a 21' x 35' freeform pool with a depth of 8'. Approximate gallons is 26,600. Filter pump is a 2.0 HP Jandy E-Pump, Cleaner pump is a Polaris PB4-60, 580sqft Jandy Cartridge filter, pool miser autofill, pool cleaner is a Polaris 3900 w/pump. And an aqualink with PDA P4

Looks like they slipped some "magic" in there as well. A fusion chlorine sanitizer and a uv sterilizer....

If you are just now getting permits it is not too late to take those options out.

My pool is a year old and they installed similar pieces of "magic" in mine. Both are empty and unplugged now and I'm considering going to SWG cell. In your area I'd do it for sure but up here in MN I'm having a hard time justifying the cost with our short season and how cheap I've been able to buy bleach.

pool cleaner is a Polaris 3900 w/pump.

You might also consider eliminating the cleaner and pump and buying a top of the line robot. Many on the forum praise them and far cheaper to run than a dedicated pump.

Take care.
