Hello all! I have an 18,000 gallon fiberglass pool with SWG. Last year when closing, I put my cover on to late into the fall which caused the water to turn brown from leaves and algae. I cleaned it out the best I could before covering. When reopening this spring I battled algae and have finally gotten it under control. BUT I was left with this eye sore of an orange/brown stain everywhere. Water line, walls, steps...you get the picture. I tried everything that i knew without any success. You can imagine my panic thinking I had ruined my pool before we could even enjoy our first season. Until I came across this crazy Vit C tablet test. I had nothing to loose...at this point I should invest in pool chems because of how much I have purchased this year. Popped into the local dollar general, grabbed the tabs & some throw away socks. Then with such ease, amazement and (surprising) satisfaction the stain just disappeared. Now fast forward...I’m 4 bottles in and need to face reality here. I think I’m going to have to attempt the ascorbic acid route due to the stain covering the entire pool. The more I rub off, the more stain my white pool reveals.

I’m researched the procedure of this route and am intimidated at the thought of eliminating all FC levels after battling algae for weeks. The tedious process is overwhelming as well.

Any veterans out there that has battled this issue? My area has VERY hard water due to limestone and hauling in water just isn’t an option that I even want to entertain at this point. I don’t think it’ll be a reoccurring issue because the stains that I have removed at this point have not returned. Advice, tips, pros/cons...any info and POV is greatly appreciated!
