Hi all,
I've had the salt system off for a couple of years due to flaking of the flagstone around the pool. It is still flaking with chlorine so I am thinking of going back to salt. I wanted to test the system to see if it is still working before I add salt. Salt level is low now, 800 ppm. It is an older (probably 2007?) APURE1400 system, S/N A07GK2132. It is set up with 240 V input.
I am getting a steady service light with code 170. I have the detailed troublehooting flow chart but maybe someone here can point me in the right direction. Other threads have said that the flow sensor is often the culprit.
I have gone through the tests in the troubleshooting guide:
Back board test points:
1-8, 78.3 V AC (spec is 75)
2-7, 69.5 V AC (spec is 65)
3-6, 20.4 V AC (spec is 21)
4-5, 0 mV DC (spec is 120) Cell is off when service light is on?
Green to Black/White leads to cell, 0.024 V DC (spec is 22-28) Again, cell is presumably turned off when service light is on?
Front board test points:
K-H, 0 mV DC (spec is 120)
A-C, 20.4 V AC (spec is 21)
I disconnected the flow/salinity/temp sensor from the front board and restarted the sytem:
The service light stayed off and the 170 code did not come on.
Front Board test button procedures (R temp, H temp, Salinity) all gave normal readings.
I reconnected the sensor to the front board. I cleaned the sensor; there was not any significant corrosion on the metal surfaces. The service light and code 170 came on again.
I took off and inspected the salt cell. It is pretty old but looked clean without significant build up of scale.
Next step: replace the sensor and see what happens?
Thanks,
Barry
