No PDA. Only the wall pad inside and the control board outside. Not sure I'm using the right terminology there.
I'm comfortable with electronics with guidance. The board outside is not responding to any button presses at all. I powered everything down and then backup and held the reset button for about 20 seconds on the board outside and didn't notice any changes. How screwed am I?
Will try that this afternoon and get back to you. Thanks.Find the connection for the inside panel and unplug it. Try again after that to see if service mode works. It'll be at the upper left of the board a 4-wire red connector. Post a pic.
I go over what you are looking for in this video.
The microprocessor was hit by a power surge. Turn off all power to the system. (If the PCB is prior to Revision N, disconnect the nine (9) volt battery.) Wait two (2) minutes and then turn the power on. If this frees up the system, you will need to reset the time and date, except with a Revision N board. Programming will not be lost. It is advisable to install a Surge Protection Kit
Here's what I did. I flipped all the breakers and disconnected the battery. I opened the panel and disconnected the four wire red connector that runs to the pad inside . I then flipped the breakers back on but the board was completely dead, no lights or response whatsoever. I flipped the breakers back off and reconnected the four-wire connector then turn the breakers on again. Lo and behold, everything works now. What was the issue?Find the connection for the inside panel and unplug it. Try again after that to see if service mode works. It'll be at the upper left of the board a 4-wire red connector. You might be on to something. I noticed that my panel cover was pinching that brown wire. There doesn't seem to be a lot of slack in there so I think I will just cut it and connect a new one with wire nutsCould also be the 4 wires in that red connector are corroded and you moving it made a better connection. All's well that ends well!
