Hey all. I have an older aquacal heat pump. I followed the directions in the manual and called aquacal also. They had me run my low voltage wire to y and z terminals in the heater then run the other end to the intellicenter obviously. I then hit the up down button on the heater til the program menu came up and hit pool/spa til the “loc” came up. I toggled to 17 then hit pool/spa til “jao” came up and toggled til 2. This should have put the heater in external controller mode but I can’t get the intellicenter to control the heater at all. I tried hooking it to the gas heater terminal and also a com port. The intellicenter is set to heat pump so I’m not quite sure what I’m doing wrong. A little help would be awesome. Thanks!
Page 18 in the manual I believe. I have no spa.

Hook it up to the gas heater terminal and say on the IntelliCenter it is a gas heater.

Pentair does not tell us which which IntelliCenter setting controls which relays.

Gas Heater controls J2.
MasterTemp Heater controls RS-485
Heat Pump they don’t say, could be J2, but could be the Electric Heater socket
UltraTemp Heat Pump controls RS-485
Hybrid Heater controls RS-485

You may want to call Pentair Support and ask them.

I think your Aquacal HP will work connected to J2 and called a Gas Heater.

Below leads me to believe that in 3.002 a gas heater can be connected to J2 and a Heat Pump can be connected to the SOLAR socket. That would say the Heat Pump does not use the Electric Heater socket.

You have to ask Pentair what connection to use with a non-RS-485 heat pump control.

This person did what I am suggesting with his Aquacal HP…
