Hello,

Last summer we had an electrical issue with our Aqua Trol RJ. We replaced a part inside of it but it would not work correctly and we replaced it. We are just now realizing that we replaced it with an Aqua Trol HP. With everything connected, we are showing No Flow. After some research it looks as though we now need a Flow Switch. But now we are wondering if our old cell (turbo cell t-cell-5) will even work with the HP. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to TFP.

The Aqua Trol RJ cell is made to directly attach to the return jet and does not have a flow switch because it mounts vertically and vents out the return so there is no danger of hydrogen gas buildup and explosion.

The Aqua Trol HP cell is made to be placed inline the PVC hose and uses a flow switch that connects to the control box.

Did you get a HP control box or cell? The HP control box has to see a flow switch pluged into it to operate.

You can get an RJ-11 plug and jumper pins 3&4 and the box will think the flow switch is closed. See Hayward AquaTrol SWG - Further Reading

Or you can buy a flow switch and install it in a T fitting and plug it in.
