Any way to cool down water without a chiller?

We have a forecast of 103° and higher every day for the next 10 days and who knows how much longer after that. Brutal. As long as the humidity isn’t terrible, my pool should stay in the low 80s. It’s times like these that make me really appreciate the chiller, as in the years before we had it, the pool seemed like a waste of money.

91F today. I seem to have hit a plateau. It's so hot outside here, that may be as good as it gets. Or at least super slow cooling.

I use a home made return sprayer. My water temp gets into the low 90's by days end and I can reduce it to 85 or so by morning. I run it overnight, do not run it during the day. I have to watch the weather and make sure the winds are not going to be crazy otherwise it blows all over and doesn't get back into the pool.

In 20 years when I redo everything I will add a chiller.

Shade sails work far better than misters, and the cost to install is far lower than a chiller. In GA my pool was in full sun and was a hot tub in the summer. The shade sails dropped the pool temp from high 90's to high 80's - 90. That feels cool on a 100 degree day!

The posts are 4x6 posts set in concrete, and I used stainless steel cables to hold the shade sails up. They were designed to be easily taken down if a huge storm came up. If I were to do it again, I would use winches on two corners of each sail to make it even easier to take down and add tension.

I think you have hit the temp. Neighbor to you and my pool was 90 this morning. I think that 90 and a little more is going to be it going forward till fall.

Fully agree! Dollars better spent. We actually at times feel a bit too chilled in 90 degree water under full shade. Plus, we were not using the pool previously during mid-day hours due to not wanting to swim under full burning sun, wouldn't have swam even if water was 75, so shading extended our swim hours.
