Another pump speed and run time question...

Pool is open and nicely balanced. It will be under solar cover and cold for many weeks so I’m not focused on surface scimming and I won’t be using the SWG or heat exchanger. There are no other water features etc. With this in mind, what is an appropriate run time and speed combo for my vs pump. I’ve seen the recommendation to run variable speed for 4 hours which seems good enough. But, what speeds? My pre-set options are 750; 1500; 2350; 3450 RPM but I can make any custom setting within that range. If I try 2hrs at 1500 and 2hrs at 750 would that seem too little? Also, at 750 RPM my filter pressure gauge is about 0. Is that too little flow to accomplish anything? I’m open to recommendations and advice. As the weather heats up I adjust the pump to accommodate the swg and surface skimming but I don’t think I need that much circulation yet. Thanks you for any input you have to offer.

R,

I don't see any reason to change speeds... It is not really going to save you much money and running at 750 is most likely too low for skimming... I would run 4 hours at 1200 or 1500 and see how that works for you.

There is just no one speed that works for everyone.. You will just have to experiment and find the speed that works best for you...

Once you get your SWCG running I estimate that you will have to run about 10 to 15 hours to generate the amount of chlorine your pool will need each day... And that is with your cell set to 100% output..

It will really depends on how much FC your pool uses each day... Most use between 2 and 4 ppm of FC per day.

Thanks,

Jim R.
