Another pool north of Dallas

I understand they can't control the weather but the fence is the one concern that we talked to them about before we started and they assured us that it would only be a few weeks. I have small dogs and we've had several coyotes roaming the alley, last thing I need is one of them in the yard.

I feel your pain! Our reno started the week of Thanksgiving, and in three weeks I think there has been about 2.5 days of work. With holidays, and bad weather, it is just sloowwww. I knew it could be something like this, which is one reason to do it in the winter and not the summer when you can see your swim days trickling away before your very eyes, but it is still a bummer. We had our fence down for about five days in October when it was being replaced, and it was nerve-wracking to have free access to the backyard and the pool (a big no-no) with just a plastic temporary fence barely hung. I'm not quite so worried this time since the pool is currently drained, but I don't like leaving it open. And we just have a cat! With a dog it would be a huge PITA.

Mia - we have three little dogs, my son is currently staying with us for a while with his two big dogs. It's a muddy paw mess! Not to mention trying to keep them from getting out or other critters getting in. They have actually been pretty good about it but luckily there haven't been any squirrels, rabbits or other dogs in the alley when we've been out because all bets would be off! That little orange mesh plastic thing isn't stopping anything! Lol! Mr. PB just sent me a text and said he can guarantee the fence will be completed this week.

Clean up crew is here, sod, sprinklers and fence should be completed this week. Plaster won't happen until January.

I'm seriously considering putting mine off a little till it warms, plus I have a customer doing a huge project in the first of the new year.

Clean up is finished, waiting on the sprinkler guys. Need to paint the shed once it warms up! Any suggestions on landscaping? It needs to survive in 106 temps in the summer and below freezing in the winter! Artificial plants are not an option, btw!!!

Fence has been reset! I'm happier than a pig in ... Well, let's just say I'm pretty darn happy! It has been a long couple of months worrying about the dogs getting out or the coyotes getting in! As you can see my littlest project manager is checking things out! Sprinklers and sod are set for tomorrow.

Sprinklers installed today. They worked long and hard cutting through tree roots to reroute some of them. The landscaper stopped by to lay the sod but couldn't do the work since the sprinklers weren't finished, so he won't be back until Monday. That means another muddy weekend with the dogs! Mr. PB says they pretty much shut things down for the next two weeks so we are looking at the beginning of January to finish up. Keep your fingers crossed, I need warm weather and three days of no rain to get this completed - day one, set the equipment, day two electrical and day three - plaster!!

I think we are at the same place. We need to do electrical, set the equipment and plaster. Of course, my PB would never tell me anything on the schedule unless I corner him and question him like he is on the witness stand in a big case.

I know exactly what you mean. I met with my PB on Friday and asked him if we were essentially through for the year and he changed the subject. I had to ask it several times and tell him that I had done a little research and discovered that his plaster people took the last two weeks off at year end before he admitted that we were essentially done until January. Good grief.

Seriously frustrated! They were supposed to lay sod last week but the sprinklers took longer than expected on Thursday, and Friday it was raining. Mr. PB said they would definitely be here on Monday. Sent him a text this morning and now he's telling me it will be Thursday! Argh.... I have company coming and bringing their dogs. Mine are use to the mud pit and avoid it - thank heavens. I see carpet cleaning in my future....

I'm not being sarcastic, just realistic with these thoughts. Don't (ever) believe any date your PB tells you. Add a few days, a week or month(s), depending on the topic. This will allow for weather delays and reality and you will be less disappointed and - occasionally - surprised.

And also, don't believe any date your Mr. PB tells you. Frustration usually lies in expectations versus reality (ask Ken) - so don't expect any Mr. PB to meet your date expectations - best advice I can give besides be onsite as much as possible.

If you find yourself asking "is it too much to ask..." the answer usually is yes. Feel free to try but I recommend not expecting.

It is looking great though!
