Another pool north of Dallas

I hope you love it as much as we do! Everyone that's seen it has loved the color! Mr. PB turned things on to clear up more of the plaster dust and said he would program the thing I know everyone wants most - the lights! The water is still a little cloudy but here they are:

Houston - I think we have a problem! Equipment was turned on yesterday and everything ran all night including the scuppers, went out this morning and noticed this, looks like we have water leeching through the stone wall or a leak of some sort. Sent it to Mr. PB, waiting on his response. What do you think?

Mr. PB was just here - there's a leak, they are going to have to pull the coping off the back wall to see if they can find the problem. If not they will have to start taking the wall apart. Also, noticed the water level in the spa had dropped below the tile line, so I stuck the hose in and filled it, he said they would check into that too. ARGH!!!!!

Still no resolution on the leak but other things are moving along! Water is clearing up, getting into shape doing the pool boy workout by brushing several times a day! We also had the patio covered and love it - they will be back on Friday to install the gutters. Now I'm looking at patio furniture and waiting on bids for the outdoor kitchen.

Thanks Patrick - no swimming today, gusting winds and falling temperatures today! I'd be happy with warmer weather so I can get some landscaping around the pool and being able to paint that ugly shed in the back and add some landscaping around it too. I have visions of a cute little pool house "look" for it.

So more strange issues - still no resolution on the leak on the back of the wall, Mr. PB had me turn off the scuppers on Friday and I also added about an inch of water to the pool. On Sunday, I had to add another inch to get the water level even to the bottom of the skimmers. Went out a few hours later to see a small pond forming behind the pool.
Sent a text to Mr. PB and to the owner as well. Plumbers were out this morning saying it was the auto fill but Mr. PB says that pipe was dry and downhill from where the water is, so they were wrong and should be back out tomorrow. The back of the wall is still wet and it's now been three days since the scuppers have run. Sprinklers have not run since last Thursday and no sign of this at that time. Any thoughts?

Mr. PB has been out a couple of days this week checking the water level - still no work done to identify where the leak problem is and on top of that, I noticed this afternoon that there are what appears to be pretty massive calcium deposits now forming on the stone near where the scuppers are located. Scuppers have not run for a week, the back of the wall is still wet. This has got my stomach in knots and regretting this whole project. Short of ripping out the entire wall, I don't know how they will fix it.

Oh no... I hope they can find out what's going on! The pool looks so beautiful and inviting but that standing water is keeping me from being excited atm! Ugh.... I'm so sorry you're going through this!!!

The fact that it was going to be most (if not all) of the winter months before I'd even be able to get into the pool drove me crazy at first. It still does to some extent, but with no swimming going on, and little to no chance of algae growth if I get behind, this interim time has allowed me a nice learning curve. I know quite a bit more about my equipment, water chemistry, and just general upkeep.

All that to say....be thankful that at least if this was going to happen, while the PB is finding and fixing the leak, you're not losing swimming time. You are getting more time to learn about your pool in ways that you hadn't expected.

Thanks SKC, I was just feeling a bit jealous of everyone who goes through this unscathed! I know there are others like us who have had lots of issues. We actually had Pool School tonight and I feel a little better about all the "stuff" out there, little things that I wondered about! One main tip was never reach barehanded into the skimmers to clean them - said he's seen lots of mice, rats, rabbits and other critters in there! Lol! Also Mr. PB sent a crew out again to check on the wall and it appears they did some work near one if the scuppers, we will watch it carefully to see if it's fixed.

I had a baby mouse (or rabbit, couldn't quite tell) in my pump basket the other day. I'd rather not get into anything larger than that. :)

In regards to learning about equipment, I now also know about how water levels that are a little low can affect the fountains and the prime on my pump. I also know how to drain all of my equipment during freezing weather and start it back up. :goodjob:

Readyforapool. First, very sorry to see you're having issues with leakage. That's scary to hear considering where I'm @ in a build.

What coping is that? Is that the white man made stuff?

My wife wants that on top of our spa and raised wall...so I'm curious.
