Another in Texas - Cypress

Sorry, having trouble with photobucket freezing. Thanks for the overall picture - helps a lot. It looks better from this angle. I think when they do the sawing along the middle and grout, it will look good. I have my picture to show, but since your spa is larger, I'm not sure it applies. They used larger pieces for your larger spa which looks great. They also did more of an offset pattern which I like with the larger pieces. It's a little hard for me to say from pictures, but your pieces look larger going width AND length giving you a broader seating rim - wish I had that. But here's my photo anyway.

Thank you for the picture. That helps a lot! This is so much cleaner looking than what this crew did with mine. I don't even like the offset but I can live with it. This corner just looks awful and I'm hoping they can fix it with saws and grout. I'm trying to be careful saying anything too since it's not finished and my PB asked me to be patient. Should I wait to say anything about it and see what they do? I just know it's easier to fix at this stage.

Suz, I think our width is the same. It's only about a foot or a little more across. These are all half pieces.

I really like your Spa and how it fits in with the overall Pool Design. We had one in previous pool but decided against it this time. But seeing yours makes me wonder if I made a mistake.
I really didn't have the room in the pool area so am probably going to add a Hot Tub and Summer Kitchen in the large 2nd Lanai. I've got 15'x30' there. Actually could add an inground spa in that space but it would not spill over to the pool.

A lot of people here have and love their separated hot tub. I think there are definite advantages to doing it that way and you will be happy with that too. I wish I had a 1st lanai. [emoji23]

I'm trying to figure out what they can do. Funny, but there were times, I had to tell the guy what to do. Not that I'm a tile person, but I had looked at sooooo many pictures. He would tell me something was impossible, then I would show him a picture.

You have the same two pieces that make up the end edge as I have - call those pieces 1 and 2. It's the next two pieces on either side touching those two end edge ones that are different - call those pieces 3 and 4. Then moving further in on the ledge, call those pieces 5 and 6. Maybe you would like it better if the edges going across the width of 3 and 4 met which would also make the across edges of 5and 6 also meet making straight lines. That would give more of a final end look to the ledge.

See how the inner points of my pieces 1, 2, 3, and 4 all touch at one point? If yours did that, your pieces 5 and 6 would have to be much smaller. Do you want me to try to draw a rough picture?

Yes, please!! They haven't done the other side yet so if I can be clear maybe they can do better there after fixing this one.

Tile guys just showed up (12:20). Only reply from PB was that they had truck trouble and would be here. No comment on coping.

Had general contractor here (starting kitchen in a few days) to set plan and schedule for the interior work and he agreed the coping should be fixed as well. He's thinking to build a pool next year and asked a lot of questions.

Great job, Suz!!! They look great, but A is the neatest (IMO). TM, I hope he agrees with you, especially with the example of his own website example.
How exciting that you are getting the kitchen soon! We have to wait until next year for ours.

Sounds like your GC will be more detail-minded with your kitchen build. Can't wait to see it!

Well, tile guys were here. Two of them were meandering around the yard for 20 minutes, but I just looked and the fence is back up and they're gone. ☹️

Know what you mean. Had PB guys out here for one day for 15 min. and 30 minutes another and that was all the PB work last week.

Today I'm a happy camper with screen sub guys 2 hrs. in the morning and now 1 1/2 hrs. this afternoon. I think they will finish most of the screen today and be back tomorrow to screen the lanai and put the doors in.

Looking forward to pics of your kitchen. I have the room in the Lanai for a summer kitchen but that will probably be a project for next year.

Okay, so PB had him fix it to make the middle line more narrow (still needs to be filed even) and showed me a picture of what it will look like when they're finished. The tile guy can tell I'm not happy and is asking how I want it but isn't getting my explanations even with pictures. This what they've done.... This is what my PB says it will look like when they finish. The pencil lines show where he is willing to cut and then replace two pieces (but they'd be smaller...). . And with this... It's still not a straight edge before the triangles because they are at a weird angle... [emoji20]. Thoughts?

If you haven't done your spa coping yet and it's travertine I recommend doing it like Suz's pool and not offset. Really not liking the ends on the offset!

The photo from his is the same as the original, correct? I like that better than his proposed cuts. If I were to have the continuous seam like my drawing A, I would want it as parallel as possible to the end line of the coping. His proposed continuous seam is not close to parallel. That's just me. Seeing the PB's picture - it really does look much better once filed and grouted.

Another tip if you have more 'ends' to do is to hand select the Travertine to use as much matching blocks as you can. Then they all blend together better and won't show as much what you don't like. The variation is beautiful, but it can highlight shapes you don't like.
