Another in Texas - Cypress

Yay!!! I woke up 'early' (hey, I'm retired) to hear the weather. KPRC says the big rains are holding off until later this afternoon! :whoot::whoot:
Can't wait for pictures but know you'll be busy supervising and getting everything you want just right!!!

That was the scream I heard all the way in Katy...lol

Apart from making sure that the steps and benches are laid out correctly, the major thing to do today is to make cubical concrete blocks for psi strength testing. To do this, first take the ground water pressure meter carefully out of the ground....lololol. Yes...very carefully.

I'll try to keep posting throughout. I have to get in their way though because their plastic sheets covered my cameras. Boo! I've already been pelted by gunite in the leg and gotten it in my hair. I'm lucky I haven't eaten any yet. It was close. [emoji23]

I want to do a happy dance. Can I do a happy dance?? [emoji23][emoji322]

Some pics for you!

Pajama day at school and the face he makes when I ask him to look happy about getting a pool.

And a video but not sure if this will work right:

The video just shows as a small picture. I uploaded it to Photobucket. How do I get it to show as a video?

I'm so excited for you!!! I remember being so bummed out (but grateful) that they covered our windows. I wasn't expecting that.

Definitely! Do a happy dance - but not on your pool, yet! Haha!

Best picture ever - your son's face of excitement! And I LOVE his minions pj's! Nick and I love the minions! Nick has minion stuff all around the house, and I have 3 minions t-shirts.

Enjoy your day!
Suz
Ps. I can't help on the video.

Ask your PB please. HE is the boss as he has the warranty card! I do know you should water it about 2 times a day to help with the curing. You can hand water it to help you "bond" with it. After you get tired to that you can set up sprinklers to help water it.

LOL on this fun day for us!!! All of the fun and NONE of the stress!!! LOVE IT!

:bounce::rockon::punkrock::party::party: There is MY happy dance for you!!

Kim, with any luck, the weather forecasters will be right, and our area will get rain for the next several days.

I agree, it's great to bond with your pool while watering the gunite. So TM, get your umbrella and rain slicker ready for watering your pool. I wonder what the neighbors will say, watching that crazy lady with a garden hose in hand WATERING CONCRETE and getting drenched by the rains?!! THAT'S what we need a video of!!! :laughblue::laughblue::laughblue:

Well, maybe I can send the kids to do it and video THEM!!

Still trying to pick my step markers and I can't find anything I like better than Light Streams. ☹️ After Denise's pool I don't want to order from them. Ha! Anybody want to donate their unused samples to me? Lol. Samples of Peacock and Steel Blue would all work and I don't need that many.

If I had real leftovers other than my 6 little pieces, I would gladly share with you. I started out with lots of extras, but my son and I got creative and used them in every free space.

No, I don't think I would order from LS either. I think something must have changed with the company. I was lucky and had a great experience a year ago.

One thought if you don't get tile donations - you can order samples of the LightStreams. For samples, they aren't cheap, but you can mix and match. If you are just doing toe tiles, it won't cost like if you wanted to do waterline tile or something. I wish I had had a friend or two order more Shell Beach samples. Those are my favorite, and since they are all different, you don't have to worry about matching anything. To this day, no matter who comes to the pool, they point out the shell beach trim on the sunshelf (mine isn't nearly as big as your shelf). And still, every time I look at them, I get this great big smile.

If you want to go with glass square or subway cut tiles, I say go to the local tile places. Don't give LS a second thought. I love my tile (I really do!), but I think I would have been just as happy using local glass tile instead of ordering from LS. I was dazzled by LS and had read somewhere they are better quality (probably on the LS website, hahaha). That stuck in my mind, so I was concerned about using any other glass tile. Now, after more and more people are using non-LS glass tile, there doesn't seem to be any problem. To me, the only truly unique glass from LS is the Shell Beach. Gosh..... did I say how much I love them?!!!! Last year, you had to order a minimum of 11 feet of the Shell Beach. But that's where buying a few samples (1 foot samples) comes in handy. They come on a mesh background, but you can take them off and place them how you like. That's what my tile guy did, so mine went further. They are so happy - all the colors! Gee, if only I could put more on my pool now!!! I do wish I had spent more on the Shell Beach and put them on my steps. I would have loved that so much more. Now I'd gladly give up other tiled areas to have more of those. Did I say how much I love them? Feel free to come over and see if you get the same kick out of them as I do.

TM! It's really happening!! They covered my windows like Suz's, so I couldn't see much but I did stand on a chair to peer out the very top of the window for a small glimpse.

Oh no! Did they forget a step? So glad you caught it!!

I'm super excited for you and Phil! Big day!!!

Lol. Thanks! I can't wait to see their faces when they come home to see the gunite! Leaving hubby in charge right now while I go see chiro. I think they are close to done.

Have you measured the steps and called your PB? Can they add a step or are they all off?

Suz

Called PB and got it fixed. Much better!!
