Another in Texas - Cypress

They use and check this thing a lot too. When I asked the PB he gave me a detailed description but I wouldn't be able to repeat it. Something about the grading. Can anybody explain in a way I can repeat to my husband? Lol [emoji5]

Pray! Rain is in the forecast tomorrow and due to scheduling they may flash us instead of doing gunite. ☹️[emoji1317]

Update: PB just talked to gunite company (Southbay) and they said they are keeping us on for full gunite and going to attempt to beat any rain. [emoji1317][emoji1317]

Definitely keeping my fingers crossed for full gunite tomorrow. You never know about the rain. Is a flash a light coat of gunite to hold the dig? But let's go for late afternoon rain and complete gunite early in the morning!! Even better, light rains starting late tomorrow then you won't have to water the shell!

I love how your PB is really letting you know what's going on!

Yes, that's the flash! And that's what we're hoping for. We have some intricate shaping so he was a little worried about the timing.

We had South Bay too. Gunite is ok with a bit of rain too. (Then again - as long as that ground water pressure meter is setup, all is fine...lolol )

:lookhere: YOU, go to the corner right now!!

Poor TM! Phil, you had me going. I was thinking a million things at once. "I don't remember my PB doing that? I've never heard of it. Maybe he lives closer to the Gulf where the water table is higher. No, his build says Katy. Oh why didn't he just keep that to himself!"

Ok, I'm wise to you now!! :hammer: That was a great one - so authentic!
Suz

LOLOL. Suz - you are such a sweetheart for being so worried for TM...really.

Time to warn your neighbors about Gunite tomorrow. 6:00 AM these guys create a racket - the only one enjoying the noise will be you. It is a good time for PB to also visit the neighbors, hand over his business card and let neighbors know that they can contact him directly for anything related to the noise / dirt / etc. PB may also score some business with that friendly / responsible gesture.

Thats a laser level. Here is how they use it. The laser level on the tripod is aimed at a measuring scale with a sliding markers and a sliding laser detector so that they can be moved up and down the scale.

[h=3]How to Set Grade with a Laser Level[/h]
  1. Set up the laser level on a tripod on firm dry ground. Ensure the tripod is stable.
  2. Turn on the laser level and give it a moment to self-level.
  3. Identify the initial height of your grade. The pitch of the grade slopes down from here.
  4. Place the bottom of the leveling rod at the desired height.
  5. Adjust the laser detector up or down until you hear a beep.
  6. Secure the detector.
  7. Identify the desired amount of fall from the top of the grade to the bottom. Let’s assume a 10 inch fall for this example.
  8. Move the laser detector up the rod 10 inches and secure it.
  9. Walk to where the bottom of the grade will be.
  10. Find level with the laser detector. You will either have to lift the rod (most likely) or dig in to the ground depending on the workspace.
  11. The bottom of the leveling rod represents the bottom of the grade.
  12. Mark the spot by inserting a stick in the ground displaying the desired height.

Suz is a sweetheart and YOU are mischievous! Suz was guarding my sanity!

As for Kim, well, I bet she found lots of trouble once upon a time but, "Nobody puts Baby in a corner!"

The rain doesn't really ramp up until 11:00 in the morning. And that's assuming the forecast is right on the money. Who knows which part of Houston will get hit first. I'm doing what I can to help you..... I did not add salt or calcium increaser to my pool today like I had planned. That would have brought on the rain for sure. Lol!!! Bye bye fresh chems!

I think the gunite company will do the right thing. They definitely want their job to be the best it can be. They will be watching radar like crazy on their cell phones.
Watching radar myself,
Suz

Oh, that's right, Phil... Did you hear it's going to go down below freezing tonight? Better rent some portable heaters - place them around your gunite so it's not too cold for the plaster.

Your friend,
Suz :slidehalo:

But seriously, keeping my fingers crossed for you, too!

Lol. Suz...I'm going to double check everything you say with a moderator (obviously not Kim. You guys are tight...lol)

Thank you! Lol And please... Don't anybody wash their cars!

They will bond at electrical stage to the rebar sticking out on edges after gunite.

Thank you. Trying to remember when to check what is challenging.

I'm scheduled for plaster tomorrow...I'm more worried...

No kidding! Neither of us can afford rain tomorrow (because we don't currently have gutters on the side of the house by the pool and we're so close to the side PB is super worried). But come evening (for both of us anyway) bring it on and save on our water bills. Lol. What time is your plaster scheduled for?

[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] You guys are hysterical. Thank you for giving him some payback Suz. Even if he won't be as gullible as us.

I don't know Phil. You started it. The others might decide you've earned a little fun of their own. You'll never know for sure just what you can believe now. [emoji12][emoji23]

ONE day I WILL be AT her house eating her icecream while sitting in her spa with the BLING all around us! AND then we will go on a Texas pool tour and eat our hearts out!

Ha! Kim, our secret's been discovered! Actually, I'm one of the many Kim has taken under her wing. The difference is, I won't let her shoo me out of the nest!
Suz

Hard to shoo you out when I have your phone number and know how to use it!

TM and Phil, have you read Suz pool build thread?? It is the first line in her siggy. It is epic! We had BLAST building her pool.

Kim:cat:

TM!!! Wow!! They got SO MUCH DONE IN ONE DAY!!! You go girl!! You'll be swimming before me!!! It looks outstanding! I'm hoping with you that the rain holds off until it's safe for watering. This rain has really been unreal!

You all are having a good time and I'm sorry I missed it! I was babysitting all 5 grands (whew!) so my DIL could help my daughter pack for their move next week.

I second the the vote that you all need to read Suz's build! I joined late in the game and was really sad that I wasn't around to comment throughout.
But now Suz and Kim are my sweet friends, so it's all good!

Phil- better watch out- Suz and Kim are BOTH teachers and they will have you clapping erasers during recess if you are not careful!
