Pools been in since June. So far I’ve had one mouse swimming, one on the bottom and a baby mouse in the skimmer.
Last night we were swimming and one of my girls said they could see feet in the skimmer. Took the top off and there was a young rabbit in there. 🤦‍♂️
Probably only in there a day but guess I’m going to have to check the skimmer daily.
the baby mouse I found when I went to vacuum so he was probably in there several days or more. put a little extra shock in that time.
didn’t do anything last night as I tested the water and it chlorine was way high at 7 ppm.
Not looking for advice or anything. I figured mice would be an issue with them trying to get a drink and falling in. Was just surprised a rabbit would.

you were above minimum and ‘way’ below SLAM level based upon the FC/CYA Levels

you had ‘safety net FC’ and were not ‘high’. Cutting the line too close to minimum allows you little room for error and leaves the door wide open for an algae bloom. If you are ever going to ‘screw up’, do so like you did with FC to spare. (y)

Every morning before I leave for work, I check the pool and each skimmer. Frogs and mice are the only things I've found so far, and I don't want them sitting in the pool all day. Also, I don't want my family finding those. I have put in a "Frog Log" and it has helped greatly. Prior to putting that in, I was finding something daily. Now, just here and there.

Without getting into a big thing we do not follow that.
We generally keep it no higher than 4, and are very good at it.
However we had a party and I vacuumed, backwashed and refilled and turned up the feeder to replenish the chlorine and forgot to turn it down the next day.
I could tell it was high the second I got in the pool as I could smell the chlorine and my skin felt scaly when in the water.

TOTALLY your call and you are welcome to manage how you see fit with what works best for you. I was just pointing out that you weren’t ‘high’ and if you ever ‘screw up’, *thats* the way to do it well above minimum levels. :)

Most likely CCs from the party, which will give you the smell and the irritations and are irrelevant to the higher than normal FC. Providing you were between minimum and SLaM for the FC/CYA Levels(y)
