Alkalinity Test

Hello!
Assuming I am completing the TA test correctly: I have filled the tube to 25 ml, added 2 drops of -007 and then 5 drops of -008. Following this the solution immediately turns a bright magenta. What should my next step be?

That would imply your TA is zero. Your pH would then be 4.5 or so. How are you chlorinating your pool water?
I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry.

Thank you!! I have JUST begun this process and am trying to understand the steps - I am preparing to use baking soda to bring up the pH and will be using liquid chlorine following that.

Use baking soda to raise the TA. In Poolmath, set your current pH at 6.8. TA of 0. Goal of 70 ppm. Add the baking soda. Mix well with pump running for 30 minutes. Test TA again. If still zero, repeat until you get a TA of 50 or above. Then test pH.
