Hey guys,
I recently stood up a 10x30 intex pool and tested my alkalinity using the Taylor K2006 kit. According to my results...I was sitting at 500
. After the initial shock I started the process of lowering PH/alkalinity with muriatic acid and then raising the PH using Aeration. I was well on my way to my desired results but around the 200 mark I started noticing the alkalinity is not dropping as dramatically when the acid is added. The last three tests showed my alkalinity at 150 and my last two acid treatments did not seem to drop the alkalinity at all. This leads me to a couple of questions...
How quickly should I expect the Alkalinity to drop each time I add the acid?
I know PH takes longer to raise the closer the alkalinity gets to the target number. Does the alkalinity require more acid to drop as well?
Is there any concern with adding so much muriatic acid to a relatively small pool?
These are my latest test results in case folks are interested
FC - 4
CC - 0
PH - 7.2 (After adding acid this morning)
TA - 150 (this is the second time adding acid and no change to the TA)
CYA - 30
