Algea pumps into my pool for first 30 seconds or so every time i turn it om, then clear. Happens every time and gets worse every time. Husband is a CPO and took apart the Hayward DE filter and cleaned it and still doing it... gets worse every time. Chems are perfect. Have backwashed and replaced de many times. Pressure is good. Attached pics are immediately when turning pump on... darkest is first to lightest and then runs clear every time.

Welcome to TFP! But I have to say, the chems are not perfect if you have algae. Can you post a full set of water test results from your TF-100 or Taylor K-2006C? That would be our first place to begin. Also make sure to update your signature with all of your pool and equipment info (and test kit) so we can refer to it in the future.

Sounds to me like the DE is falling off the grids while the pump is off and then some of the algae inside gets through the naked grids until the DE is stirred up enough to coat them. Nothing wrong with the filter. But that much algae is wrong. Especially after a teardown and cleaning.

You've got a chemistry problem if you have that much algae.

Welcome to TFP!

Yikes, that should never be considered normal. Your pictures along with the description of it getting worse are telling me that you have an algae problem that's being masked by the filter. Live algae is growing in the water and the filter is trapping some and concentrating it enough to be visible. It is getting worse each time because algae is growing in your pool, this is an early warning that a bloom is around the corner.

As they both said above: we can provide some clues to what is causing the issue with some reliable test results.
