Algaecide?

It’s my understanding that Algaecide is used as an insurance policy to try and hold algae back if the FC level ever drops too low...and it’s generally not recommended and un-necessary if you’re diligent about your FC levels.

The thing is, ALL of my buddies seem to use it.

What’s actually in it? And is it something I should consider?

If you keep your FC/CYA ratio correct it is totally unnecessary.

There are many different formulas, but the most common is copper. When your blond hair turns green you know you have used too much of the copper based algecide.
