Hey all, We have had a pool for about 6 years and have never had such a hard time opening it. I was hoping someone could help us. Here is some info on our pool.
It has a salt cell but it is not on. We are fixing this once we can get the slamming process done.
We replaced the motor around 4/19/20. The pool sat for some time due to the motor not working.
We have drained it about half way and refilled it with new water.
We have been adding liquid bleach since 4/21 when we drained it. The chlorine has been between 24-37.5ppm We started seeing results after about a week of slamming at these chlorine levels and started to let it lower thinking it was done slamming and it got more green so we added more bleach and have kept it around 30ish to help clear up the green in the water. As of this morning 5/11/20 the chlorine is 36.5 but still has green in the deep end.
CYA has been 40-50 for most of this time during slamming. It is almost to 50 this morning.
Can anyone help us get the remaining green out of the deep end?

Welcome to the forum!
What test kit are you using for your water chemistry testing? Do you have a full set of test results from before you started the SLAM?
Your reported FC levels are well above the SLAM Processlevel FC for your CYA. That is unnecessary, wasting chlorine, and can be damaging to your pool surface. Follow the FC/CYA Levels
I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry.

Thanks for the response, we know the levels are higher than slam levels but thats the only time we have been able to get the green to go away. We have the Taylor K-2006 test kit and just replaced it so all the chemicals are new. We have also tested phosphates with the K-1106 kit.

Staying at SLAM level FC and brushing twice per day will work. Not sure of your pool type but if it is vinyl, you are most likely damaging the liner with extended periods of very high FC.

You need to brush the pool at least once a day, especially right now. Algae has a biofilm that when scratched, allows the chlorine to penetrate better and killing it.
