Algae starting

HI, I am new to TFP and have a question about algae growth. But first I am a resident at a apartment complex in Cleveland OH. Not sure how this happened but I now have found myself maintaining a 70,000 gallon swimming pool. All is good except I am starting to see what I think is algae on the bottom of the deep end. It is only in certain areas and have been brushing and cleaning regularly. The pool CYA is 80 and I was keeping the FC around 3 or 4ppm. But I realized that I now need to keep it between 6 to around 9 since my Cya is so high.

Previously the pool was maintained by the complex’s Maintenance Supper but she has left and asked me if I would take over. When I said yes I didn’t realize how involved this pool chemistry stuff was. Before she left several buckets of stabilized triclor 3” tablets where purchased and that is what I am using. I am thinking of switching to liquid chlorine because I fell I am just running in circles with the triclor.

Anyways, the pool is not cloudy or green. So I do not have a algae bloom happening but seeing just some spots that are starting to show up. Do I need to do anything else besides increasing FC?

Welcome to the forum!
Does your municipality have any requirements for public pool management? TFPC is for residential pools, and many municipalities require much different water chemistry management.
If you have visible algae, you have algae throughout the water system. TFPC uses the SLAM Process
I suggest you read through Pool Care Basics - Trouble Free Pool and even look at a few of our videos TFP-TV - Trouble Free Pool

It is not really a public pool per say. It is private pool for residents only. But yes the Board of Health did a inspection and all was good. Also, sorry I didnt realize this is for residential only. 😀

Welcome to the forum  The science of what we teach is applicable to any pool water. That said, it is not that we are residential only but that many commercial pools have jurisdictions that MAY conflict with our techniques (use of CYA is a good example)
