Hi everyone! I live in Orlando and just bought my first home, which came with a pool! It was a nasty swampy green before, but I've been doing a crash course this week and the rehab is going well.

I have a company coming Friday just for good measure. I am noticing these white spots on the bottom. I assume this means that the bottom of the pool is stained with algae. Does this mean I need to drain the pool & chemical clean? Or will some hard brushing, shock, and a vacuum be enough?

Welcome! Make sure you are testing your own water. That's a must to help diagnose just about anything chemically. It's easy and you CAN do it yourself. You just need to ensure you are using a TF-100 (link in my signature) or Taylor K-2006C test kit. With either of those, we can coach you through just about anything.

Be sure to bookmark our Pool Care Basics for lots of great info.
