Algae not primarily on walls/floors

Hey guys, my pool went south very quickly this last week and developed a ton of green algae. It’s to the point now I can’t see my robot pool vacuum when it’s on pool floor. I’m brushing daily but the algae is not fully settling on floor & walls of pool. It appears to also be strongly suspended in the water, making things very hard to see.

I said green algae but have no clue as to what I’m dealing with. CYA was close to 0 2-3 days ago and I just got back up to 50. FC currently at 7.

Does green algae also lead to pH increase? As of yesterday, it was 7.4 and then today was close to 8. Seemed weird.

For first time was considering a flocculant to rid this algae in suspension

HELP

+1. It's 'strongly suspended in the water' bevause it grows exponentially and you're behind the 8 ball already. It's going to be a battle with 40k gallons.

Do you have good drain/fill options ? You may want to reduce a bunch and then only have to battle the rest. A gallon of 10% is only 2.5 FC for you. It's going to take alot of jugs. I drained half of mine and then had a 17k gallon fight.

Much appreciated & agreed on it being a FIGHT!

The good news is that your filter is going to do its part to clear up that water. Don’t be tempted to let everything settle - keep it brushed and stirred up so the chlorine can kill it and the filter can get rid of it. Keep an eye on filter pressure - when it rises 25% above your normal clean pressure, it is time to backwash. You’ll be amazed at how dirty the backwash water will be.
