Air in system?

Daughter's newly purchased home's pool filter pump, a Hayward with the clear plastic top that is bolted down:

Hard to see in this picture but when running, there is a fairly large air bubble at the top that swirls around.
My question: Is this normal or is the system sucking air from somewhere?
Might the gasket need replacing on the top? The knobs are fairly tight without stripping them.
Thanks!

Looks like a lot of air. In a variable speed pump it is normal to have a bubble at lid, but should see no action.

This trick helped me find my suction side leak….
We were having air bubbles and the pump would get stick filtering. We tried the water trick to find any air suction but didn’t find anything. We lubed the O ring and the bubbles stopped but our pump runs as in the video with the water all bubbly, not full to the very top. It has since installing the pool 3 years ago. Should we be checking for other things?
