Hi,
This started when my pump was running for a day with the skimmer full of leaves.
Anyway, we had a lot of air bubbles in the pump cover. Replaces the gasket and this solved 90% of the problem. But still have some. I do plan to try and replace the flexable PVC hose from the skimmer to the pump. But dont see any leaks and dont have a lot of hope that will fix the problem.
Pump if a 1 hp matrix powerflo AG.
What are the chances it is the pump that is the problem?
I never liked the cover on this pump. Most of the time have to use a rubber mallet to help get it off.
Next time may just get a 3/4 superpump since I like the 2 knobs for the cover. Even if we just have a above ground pool.
Thanks for any suggestions

Have you noticed a significant change in filter PSI? If so, you might try cleaning the filter.

I assume you cleaned out both the skimmer and the pump basket?

Is the water level mid way up the skimmer?

Have you lubed the pump lid and and drain plug gaskets?

A VERY common issue I see on this forum is putting the pump basket lid on too tight. It is not the tightness of the lid that seals the strainer basket. It is the "suction" created by the pump that pulls the lid down air tight. If you have to smack it with a mallet, you are likely getting it too tight.

I would inspect that flexible pvc connection hose pretty carefully. It just might be the source of your remaining air leak.
