Aiper Scuba S1 Review

I don't have mine yet, but on my Seagull I put some silicone grease (that I use on pump o-ring), on the rubber. Helps it slide on and seals well. Looks like it would work on this in a couple spots.

It could have ridges to make a friction fit for the rubber cap. Ensure it is an actual thread and not just circular ridges if you plan to make a threaded plug.

Hard to see from the attached photo but it does look like threads to me. I'm guessing it was cheaper to use a threaded component vs creating a new one. The rubber grommet does indeed go over the threads which likely help it stay on as you suggest but unfortunately, they don't seem to keep the water out.

I'm hopeful a liberal coating of silicone lube will help a lot. Will try later today.

My S1 arrived today, took about 48 hours to arrive. Total cost with flash sale was $489.99

Question here for everyone…my plaster was completed a little over a week ago Thursday 4/10

Is there a period I should wait until I should use this thing on the floor? NPT start up card says 7 days I believe

Some here in this MEGA thread have reported that the black treads have made marks on their plaster. I haven't noticed anything yet but my pool is very dirty still ( 2 cycles in and still needs work). If it isn't dirty or there isn't much debris, I'd continue to brush it to stir up the plaster dust so your filter can get it (and then after it's cured, a filter cleaning will likely be needed FYI). I will say though, leaves left on curing plaster can cause staining so don't let any debris sit for too long.

Yeah, those look like threads, the should be unconnected rings. Silicone grease or Magic Lube should help a lot. Just keep it away from the contacts.

I have been compulsively brushing and skimming the pollen and leaves off the water. lol I’m pretty sure my neighbors think I’m nuts but I want to keep the interior white plaster as perfect as I can for as long as I can. My ocd won’t allow anything else lol

Saw your pool in another post or perhaps earlier in this MEGA thread. At first, I honestly thought you were somewhere in the Mediterranean. Pretty nice for Philly! Really nice setup and quite the backyard escape. I get it with the plaster though. When we had ours redone, I was religious about keeping it sparkling clean. White really does show the smallest speck compared to the expensive Pebbletec etc. styles but I actually prefer the smooth feel of regular ol' plaster. Anyways, some say wait 30 days before putting a robot in there but at some point, you'll have to weigh your time vs. what you're willing to put up with in terms of cleanliness. I know it's likely still pretty cold up there (heater perhaps with your smaller volume?) but I'd say make the call and just enjoy it. The memories you make will outweigh any scuff marks from a pool cleaner. Have fun!

I agree it needs to be improved. Each time I open it water drips out of the connector. So I roll up a tissue or cloth or sometimes a Q-tip and dry it out. If I don't do this it will start with a red blinking light instead of yellow. Guessing that's not good.

I use my air compressor to blow the port dry before plugging it in for a charge.

Follow the plaster mfg. Start up procedure. If it states 7 days then that is fine. I have used the general plaster council guide which states 30 days for any roller type of cleaner.

Same. Currently using a can of air (instead of running my compressor hose to where I charge/store the robot).

Here's another idea. I have an old scuba tank outfitted with an old regulator. Tank is up to date on inspections and I use it to test dive gear in the pool night before I go diving. Doesn't happen often but its a sad day when you're at the first dive site and it doesn't work. You just spent $100 for a boat ride watching others have fun! I digress... I also have an attachment that connects to the HP regulator to make a portable air supply. No reason I couldn't store it right next to the charger on the deck. Great idea, thank you!!

Just tried this. Worked like a charm. A little bit of a pain to hold it up in the air and blow on it but works great. Started with yellow blinking light.

I have the same set up. Also good for filling bike tires.

I got the Aiper Scuba S1 1 year ago. It stopped charging recently after being used about 52 times (once per week). I sent it to Aiper for repair under warranty. They returned it after “repair” - only it still does not charge. I won’t bother with garbage battery powered robot vacuums anymore and will stay clear of Aiper in the future. I’m currently looking at the Dolphin Quantum vs Premier (corded robot vacuums).

Edit: They sent me a refurbished unit. We’ll see how long this lasts. Based on the failure rate reported online, an Aiper robot seems to be good only as long as the warranty is valid - which for the Scuba S1 is 2 years.

Why no wheeled cleaner for first 30 days? Plaster is sufficiently hard once the pool is full of water. Pool cleaners can be installed and utilized after about two days if there is no plaster dust forming. The reason that tracks develop is usually from plaster dust being "packed down" by the pool cleaner wheels and then not removed by brushing. So it can look like an "indention" (and discolored) but it is not an indention. Brushing afterwards can help prevent the plaster dust from sticking on the plaster.

If you want to get the fine silt add this to the filter. I cut a piece that basically lays on the inside perimeter wall of the basket. It catches all the fine stuff.

Where do you guys charge your Aipers? I been doing it in the equipment pad area and fortunately it’s pretty shaded with all the trees/shed.

Also do you store yours inside or just keep it with the other equipment when not in use?

Prob thinking into this way too much but with reading stories about these Aiper going up in flames inside homes it made me think twice
