AI said my testing idea is valid, but is it?

I have a salt pool. Due to false salt level readings, my pool has way to much salt. If I do the following test, is it an accurate, valid test?

1) I get a quart of pool water in a quart glass.
2) i test the salt level of the water in the glass.
3) it says 5000
4) I pour out half the water out of the glass and put in clean bottle water to fill it up again.
5) i test the salt level of the water in the glass again.
6) it now says 2500

So, does that mean, 100% true, I have to get rid of 1/2 the pool water to drop the salt level to 2500?

Will this be an accurate test?
This will tell me how much water I need to dump out of my pool?

Yes, lowering salt or CYA or CH is a simple math problem. Drain the pool for the % you want to lower the chemical.

Want to lower the chemical by 50% then drain out 50% of the water and refill with fresh water.
