After opening pool -algae and filter pipe cracked - should I add chlorine until the filter pipe is fixed

I opened my pool today and discovered that the pool is filled with algae. But then I discovered that a section of pipe to the filter is broken. It may be a couple of days before it is fixed. I am wondering if I should add some chlorine so that the algae doesn't get even worse in the next few days.

You should. Add 10 ppm FC worth of liquid chlorine each evening. Use your brush to vigorously mix it in.
