Starting last season when I would turn the pump off while cleaning the basket from vacuuming the bottom it would not turn back on unless I let it sit for a couple hours. I thought it was getting over heated. No issues when left running just when turned off & back on quickly. I took it to the pool store I purchased the pool in 2019 & they said the bearings are going bad therefore the motor needs replaced for $260. A new one he said is $430. My pool is an 18’ round Doughboy above ground pool. The pump is Powerline XP I & 1 hp. Should I purchase something different, repair the old one, or buy another of the same one? Thank you for the assistance! Someone suggested I get a variable speed pump to save electricity. Amazon has them but I have no clue if they are any good. I don’t want to buy something super expensive.

I was in error on the recommendation. The Calimar is a 230v pump. Your existing pump is 115v. I would search for VSPs in your price range and find one with 115v.

Doheny's has a well rated 1hp pump that is on sale now...

You filter should be just fine.
